Horse Gym was developed with the goal of preserving the horse’s natural movement. Traditional treadmills restricted proper hoof placement, which is why we designed a treadmill with a shock- absorbing base that supports the horse’s natural motion while incorporating the experience and recommendations of veterinarians and farriers.
Our innovative forest-floor technology reduces strain on the horse’s bones and tendons and allows correct hoof placement at the optimal angle. This promotes the horse’s natural movement pattern while minimizing the risk of injury.

Growing up in regional NSW, horses have always been a big part of Mathew’s life. Being able to bring the highest quality and safest equine equipment to Australian riders is something he sees as a real privilege. Now based in Canungra in Qld, he supplies a carefully selected range of premium European equipment to customers right across the country.
For more than 20 years, Mathew has been importing equine equipment from Europe. What started as sourcing gear for his own horses quickly expanded as others began seeking the same quality and reliability.
He first became involved with Horse Gym when Australian customers were experiencing delivery issues. With his long history in importing, Mathew stepped in to make sure every customer received their equipment smoothly and on time.
Horse Gym came under new ownership in 2024, and there’s a renewed focus on growing, improving, and supporting the equine community for years to come.
Proven and tested
Study on the Effectiveness of the Horse Gym Treadmill in friendly cooperation with the veterinary clinic Dr. Kai Kreling in Walddalgesheim and Dr. Alfons Woestmann. In a scientific study, the effects of the Horse Gym treadmill were tested on 12 young, untrained horses.
The aim was to improve the horses’ muscle development and conditioning through a structured training program.
The horses were placed on a standardized feeding and training program and gradually accustomed to the Horse Gym treadmill, model Power Sport P2. Training was conducted in various phases at walk and trot with increasing incline levels.
After just four weeks, a significant improvement in muscle development was observed, particularly in the neck, back, and hindquarters. On average, muscle growth was about 5%, with the semitendinosus muscle increasing by 6.6%. All horses handled the increasing demands without any issues, injuries, or signs
of lameness.
The training improved the horses’ overall fitness and willingness to perform. Heart rate and blood values remained within the physiological range even under high exertion. The consistent and even strain from the treadmill helped the horses develop solid musculature and improved coordination.
The study results demonstrate the high effectiveness of the Horse Gym treadmill in the training and rehabilitation of young horses. It promotes muscle development and conditioning, improves balance and supports overall health. The treadmill’s safe and stable surface, along with the ability to customize training, ensures gentle yet effective development for the horse.
